Cyprus Electricity Grid Operator Warns of Potential Power Cuts

The electricity system's capacity is at its limit, with the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (ΔΣΜΚ) warning of potential power cuts.

In a statement, ΔΣΜΚ stated that electricity demand coverage is expected to be marginal between 18:30-22:00 due to technical issues. Load shedding cannot be ruled out to maintain the system's safe operation.

If cuts are deemed necessary, the maximum duration is estimated at 30 minutes per consumer group. ΔΣΜΚ appeals for reduced consumption during these hours, emphasizing that the safe and reliable operation of the electrical system is a priority.
