Prepaid SIMs: Countdown to Identification Deadline

Concerns have been raised regarding the identification of prepaid SIM card holders as the November 10 deadline approaches. Those who fail to identify themselves will face service disruptions.
According to data presented to the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, identification rates are low. Cyta has identified 21.89% of users, Epic 8%, Primetel 10%, and Cablenet 6%.
Providers have requested a transition period to avoid chaos, with Primetel suggesting a gradual implementation of service cuts. MP Kostas Kosta proposed a 30-day transition period.
The identification process for minors under the care of the Social Welfare Services is also under review.
