President Christodoulides highlighted Cyprus' role as a safe harbor, emphasizing its further promotion during the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Speaking at the International Sea Tourism Festival (ISTF) in Ayia Napa Marina, he noted the importance of maritime tourism for the country.

In 2025, the port of Limassol is expected to welcome 140 cruise ships and 160,000 passengers, with a further 25% increase in 2026. The government seeks strategic partnerships to make Cyprus a competitive cruise destination.

Diving tourism is also on the rise. A bill on licensing recreational diving service providers will soon be discussed by the Council of Ministers. A study by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism on the sector's development is expected in November, while international marine sports events are supported through a Grant Scheme.

The President referred to the historically high tourism performance in 2024 and expressed confidence that 2025 will be another record year. The vision is for Cyprus to become a leading maritime tourism hub in the Eastern Mediterranean and a dynamic Blue Growth hub.
