Cyprus: Recognized as a Safe Harbor and Blue Economy Hub

President Christodoulides highlighted the widespread recognition of Cyprus' role as a safe harbor in the region, especially in anticipation of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During the International Sea Tourism Festival (ISTF) at Ayia Napa Marina, the President noted that in 2025, the Limassol port is expected to welcome 140 cruise ships and 160,000 passengers, marking a significant increase compared to 2024. A further increase of 25% is projected for 2026.
The government, through the National Cruise Tourism Development Committee, is pursuing strategic partnerships to make Cyprus a competitive and safe destination. A bill for licensing recreational diving service providers and a study for the development of diving tourism were also announced.
President Christodoulides referred to the high tourism performance in 2024 and expressed expectations for another record year in 2025. Cyprus aims to become a leading maritime tourism hub in the Eastern Mediterranean and a Blue Economy hub.
