Record Number of Warnings for Dangerous Products in the EU in 2025

The European Commission announced a record number of warnings for dangerous non-food products in 2025 through the Safety Gate system, with a total of 4,671 notifications. The Consumer Protection Service announced that 39 of these notifications came from Cyprus.
The product categories with the most warnings were cosmetics (36%), toys (16%), and electrical appliances and equipment (11%). Chemical hazards, injury hazards, and drowning hazards were the main causes of the warnings.
National authorities of member states took 5,794 protection measures, such as product recalls, import bans, and withdrawals. In Cyprus, authorities notified 39 dangerous products to the Safety Gate.
The EU has modernized product safety legislation, strengthening controls and recalls. Consumers are encouraged to inform the Consumer Line at 1429 if dangerous products are identified.
