Luxury Pre-Owned Watch Market Hits Record High: Rolex and Patek Lead

The pre-owned luxury watch market recorded its best semester since the beginning of 2022, according to the Bloomberg Subdial Watch Index, marking a 5.3% increase in the first half of 2025.

Rolex Daytona (116508) and Patek Philippe Aquanaut (5167A) emerged as top performers during the period.

Christy Davis, founder of Subdial, mentioned that new watches are hard to find in stores, with months-long waiting times, while the pre-owned market offers immediate availability.

Swiss watch exports fell by 5.6% in June, affected by US tariffs and reduced demand in Asia.

Swatch Group AG recorded a 7.1% drop in sales, due to the Chinese market.

US tariffs on Swiss watches amount to 39%, affecting sales.

The pre-owned watch market is gaining ground, with consumers turning to more economical solutions.
