Car Sales Decline Due to Recalls, Says Siikkis

A significant decrease in car sales has been observed due to vehicle recalls, according to Andreas Siikkis, President of the Car Dealers Association in Paphos.
Speaking to CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY (CYPE), Mr. Siikkis stated that several thousand cars have been notified for recall, not only due to TAKATA airbags but also for other issues such as fuel tanks and brakes.
The delay in the arrival of new airbags to replace the TAKATA airbags has also created problems for importers. Some companies are only replacing the airbags in new cars purchased from them, while airbags for used vehicles are delayed.
The Car Dealers Association has taken action towards the state to expedite the arrival of new airbags and make them available to sellers free of charge.
Mr. Siikkis expressed concern about the large vehicle stocks remaining in companies, creating financial problems. However, car rentals remain at a satisfactory level due to the tourist season.
