Mousiouttas Meets with Social Partners on Labor Issues

The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas, met with social partners on Friday within the framework of the Labor Advisory Body. The meeting, which lasted three hours, discussed issues such as the pension system reform, the minimum wage, the bill on the adequacy of minimum wages, and the decree for third-country students.
Emphasis was placed on the need for immediate completion of the discussion on the bill for the extension of Collective Agreements, in accordance with the European directive. Mr. Mousiouttas stressed that the discussion should be completed as soon as possible and submitted to Parliament for approval.
Regarding the pension system reform, the Minister stated that the initial plan is to complete the discussion, submission, and approval by the House of Representatives of the new pension reform within 2026, with the aim of its implementation in 2027.
In addition, the issue of the minimum wage and the decision of the Council of Ministers of December 23, 2025, were discussed, as well as the continuation of the work of the Minimum Wage Adjustment Committee within 2026 on issues such as the determination of the procedure and the impact study of the minimum wage level on the economy.
Finally, regarding the decree for students, written opinions are expected to be submitted, so that the Minister of Labor can judge whether to make changes.
