Cyprus Unions to Proceed with General Strike Over Cost of Living Allowance

The labor unions SEK, PEO, PASYDY, and DEOK have announced they will proceed with a general strike on Thursday, September 11, 2025, regarding the Automatic Cost of Living Allowance (ATA) issue.

In a joint statement, the unions stated that the meeting with the Minister of Labor and employers did not yield any positive developments. According to the unions, employers reaffirmed their opposition to changes in the conditions for granting the ATA, rejecting any regulation that would alter the amount of payment.

The unions have called on workers to participate massively in the strike actions.
