Lenten Food Prices: Seafood Increases, Over 500 Inspections

Mixed picture in the prices of Lenten products in the Greek market, according to the Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection. Over 500 inspections have already been carried out nationwide.
Olives record a decrease of approximately 10% compared to 2025, while prices remain stable for lagana, halva, and cuttlefish.
Conversely, increases are noted in seafood, with shrimp recording an increase of approximately 5%, squid 8%, and octopus up to 15%, mainly due to reduced supply and adverse weather conditions.
The Authority expects a more complete assessment of prices at the peak of commercial activity and continues inspections to protect consumers.
