Tax Department: Increased Revenue, but €1.5 Billion in Debts Questionable
Share on:

State revenue from debt collection by the Tax Department has significantly increased. However, a report by the Audit Office notes an accumulation of overdue debts, with approximately €1.5 billion considered unlikely to be collected.

According to the report, revenue increased from €4.6 billion in 2021 to €6.9 billion in 2024. Total overdue debts amount to €3.1 billion, of which only €1.7 billion is expected to be collected soon.

The Audit Office conducts regular audits of the Tax Department and may include reports on the debts of associations to the state in future reports.
