The Turkish government has announced a 27% increase in the minimum wage, effective January 1st, as stated by Labor Minister Vedat Işıkhan. The minimum wage will be 28,075 Turkish Lira, equivalent to 556 euros.

According to Eurostat data, in 2024, nearly 11.2 million workers in Turkey were paid the minimum wage.

Ergün Atalay, president of Türk-İş, expressed strong opposition, stating that the amount does not meet their demands and is unacceptable.

Labor Minister Vedat Işıkhan stated that the government's goal is to protect the purchasing power of citizens and improve their quality of life.
