A viability study for the Agricultural Production Risk Management Fund has been completed, according to the General Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Andreas A. Grigoriou.

Speaking to ΚΥΠΕ, Mr. Grigoriou stated that the results of the study are expected to be presented in January 2026.

Since 2019, improvements have been made to better serve farmers and simplify procedures. The payment times for subsidies have also been expedited.

In addition to existing plans, emergency plans are also implemented, such as for the relief of those affected by the July 2025 fires in semi-mountainous Lemesos, Mr. Grigoriou noted.

The Ministry of Agriculture implements policies to support farmers, who are at the forefront of the impacts of the climate crisis.

Mr. Grigoriou mentioned that within the EU framework, interventions are being promoted to support farmers. The main tool is the CAP Strategic Plan.

Regarding damages from weather conditions, the Risk Management system has been operating since August 2019 with Law 103(I)/2019 and 2021, covering all crops and livestock farming. The philosophy is to compensate for the loss of income of producers.

Risk management plans are implemented through the Agricultural Production Protection and Insurance Fund.
