Ministry of Agriculture: Suspension of Animal Culling Rejected

The Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Andreas Grigoriou, stated that the suspension of animal culling is not acceptable as it constitutes a deviation from European regulations.
According to Mr. Grigoriou, non-compliance with the regulation could lead to Cyprus' exit from the single market, with serious economic consequences. Compensation payments to farmers have started since March.
Mr. Grigoriou called on farmers to engage in dialogue and cooperation to prevent the spread of the virus and save livestock farming. He also appealed for an end to the protests.
