Zakharova: Cyprus visa centers in Russia linked to economic impact
Cyprus' decision to have visa application centers for Russian tourists, despite the West's confrontation with Moscow, proves the awareness of the economic losses from the interruption of tourist flow from Russia, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Zakharova estimated that the number of rejected visa applications is increasing in EU countries, and the length of stay with tourist visas is decreasing, while some countries have completely stopped issuing them.
According to Zakharova, Russia is not taking prohibitive countermeasures against Europeans wishing to visit the country, and EU citizens can enter Russia with a simplified procedure, using a single electronic visa.
The statement of M. Zakharova was posted on the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
