13-year-old Majed crossed to occupied territories via Ledra Street crossing – Deportation to Turkey expected

13-year-old Majed Alashtar, from Syria, who had disappeared from the free areas on August 6, was found in the occupied territories, according to Turkish Cypriot media.

According to reports, the 13-year-old allegedly asked for permission to go to Ledra Street and crossed into the occupied territories through the Ledra Street crossing point. Turkish Cypriot media report that the Republic's authorities are in communication with the Turkish Cypriot side through the relevant bi-communal technical committee.

The website «Haber Kıbrıs» reports that «the child will be deported to Turkey soon» and is being held in an institution. The Turkish Cypriot «news agency» reported that information is awaited on whether he will be extradited to the Republic of Cyprus.
