29 Years Since Isaac and Solomou's Murders

It marks 29 years since the murders of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou, events that marked the history of Cyprus.
In August 1996, during an anti-occupation event in Deryneia, Tassos Isaac was beaten to death. Three days later, Solomos Solomou was murdered while trying to lower the Turkish flag from a outpost.
Cypriot authorities issued international arrest warrants. In 2008, the European Court of Human Rights condemned Turkey for the murders, finding a violation of Article 2 of the ECHR.
Turkey has not investigated or punished the perpetrators.
The sacrifice of Isaac and Solomou remains a symbol of resistance.
