97 Migrants Rescued in Two Incidents in Paleochora and Gavdos

A total of 97 migrants were rescued in two separate incidents in the areas of Paleochora and Gavdos, as announced by the Coast Guard.
The incidents occurred on Thursday afternoon. The Coast Guard and Frontex located and transported the migrants to safe locations.
In Paleochora, the Port Authority was informed about a boat with foreigners 32 nautical miles southwest of Gavdos. A total of 32 migrants, including 29 men and 3 minors, were picked up by a tanker and transported to the port of Paleochora. They were then transferred to a temporary accommodation in Agia, Chania.
In Gavdos, the Port Authority was informed about the presence of foreigners on "Diana" beach. 65 men were found in the area, who were transported to the port of Karave by a Frontex vessel and a municipal vehicle, and taken to a temporary accommodation.
The Central Port Authority of Chania has taken over the preliminary investigation for both cases.
