With approximately two months remaining before the deadline for replacing defective TAKATA airbags, the procedure is still pending for 33,000 vehicles. According to an official from the Department of Road Transport, about 5,000 of these vehicles are immobilized and 2,000 have been written off.

Marios Chatzigeorgiou, an official from the Department of Road Transport, told Alpha that approximately 26,000-27,000 vehicles are still pending airbag replacement from the initial lists. He also urged citizens who have not responded to contact dealerships.

A list of dangerous vehicles was announced through the European rapid alert system Safety Gate. Recalls concern dangerous airbags, defective brakes, fire hazards, and injuries from defective seat belts.

Marios Chatzigeorgiou noted that some of these vehicles may not be in the fleet of the Republic of Cyprus, as the data concerns all of Europe.

Car importers have been informed to take the necessary actions.
