Foot-and-Mouth Disease: Area in Akrotiri Closed to Protect Rare Cattle

The Veterinary Services have decided to close Akrotiri Livadi to the public, an area with marshes and reed beds where rare native cattle graze freely. The measure aims to protect the animals from foot-and-mouth disease.
According to an announcement by the Municipality of Kourion, the road to Akrotiri Livadi has been closed and will remain closed until further notice. Access to the orchards is allowed via the M1 road.
Akrotiri Livadi is a popular destination for tourists and locals, offering views of rare cattle, whose presence contributes to sustainable management and biodiversity conservation.
