Aglantzia: Mourning for 20-year-old Kyriakos – Friends at Accident Site

The death of 20-year-old Kyriakos Antoniou in a traffic accident in Aglantzia has caused grief. The accident occurred early Tuesday morning on Larnakos Avenue when the vehicle Kyriakos was driving collided with another car.

Friends and relatives gathered at the accident site to honor his memory. The Deputy Mayor of Aglantzia, Andreas Konstantinou, stated that repeated warnings had been made to the authorities regarding speed races in the area.

According to OmegaLive, an employee of the Municipality of Aglantzia and a local businessman had informed the authorities about the problem. Testimonies indicate that approximately 15 vehicles participated in races in the area, with spectators watching.

Letters to the authorities, the most recent on May 26, 2025, demonstrate the efforts to address the problem. The Deputy Mayor of Aglantzia requested that the involvement of the driver of the other vehicle in previous accidents be investigated.

An official stated that he had received assurances from the Traffic Police that the road was not considered high-risk, despite the warnings.
