Farmers in Aetolia-Acarnania Block Ionian Road in Protest
Farmers from Aetolia-Acarnania have blocked the Ionian Road near Angelokastro with over 300 tractors. The protest began shortly after 12:00 noon, with traffic diverted to alternative routes.
The farmers also plan to block bypass roads in Bralos and Nikaia. According to reports, the Ionian Road will remain closed until New Year's Eve.
Meanwhile, farmers are planning a motorcade in the city of Agrinio. Protests are escalating, with farmers considering further actions after New Year's Day.
The Minister of Rural Development, Kostas Tsiaras, stated that "the ball of dialogue is in the farmers' court," emphasizing the government's efforts to resolve the problems of the agricultural sector.
He also mentioned measures such as extending the low price of agricultural electricity and refunding the special consumption tax on agricultural diesel.
