Restoration works on the power grid in the fire-stricken areas of the Limassol district are ongoing, according to EAC spokesperson, Christina Papadopoulou.

So far, 178 out of 400 burnt poles and 8 out of 50 burnt transformers have been replaced. In addition, 3.5 kilometers of medium voltage overhead network have been constructed.

Ms. Papadopoulou emphasized the coordination of the crews, consisting of more than 150 people, and the restoration of supply to seven communities with generators, as well as the power supply to another nine communities.

The priority is to create the central core of the network and then connect the houses, after checking for safety. The EAC used drones to record damage in inaccessible areas.

Ms. Papadopoulou stated that there were equipment reserves and materials from all provinces were used to replace the damaged ones.
