The EAC (Electricity Authority of Cyprus) is working to restore power to the fire-affected areas of the Limassol district following the recent wildfires. According to EAC spokesperson Christina Papadopoulou, local network repairs were completed in the communities of Mallia, Souni, Zanatzia, Pano Kyvides, and Sotira on Sunday night.

The damage to the network includes 500 destroyed poles and 50 transformers. So far, 240 poles and 10 transformers have been replaced. The EAC has deployed 150 personnel and is using drones to inspect damage in inaccessible areas.

Additionally, the EAC is actively involved in preventing forest fires, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and other services, through projects such as the installation of underground cables in high-risk areas.

C. Papadopoulou assured that the EAC will continue to work tirelessly to restore power to all those affected, prioritizing the affected communities.
