EAC: Beware of misleading emails about unpaid bills

The EAC warns consumers about misleading emails regarding allegedly unpaid electricity bills.
According to an announcement, new incidents have been reported of sending false messages claiming that the electricity bill remains unpaid.
The messages, titled 'Urgent Warning unpaid electricity bill', urge recipients to pay the bill through an attached link.
The EAC clarifies that these messages do not originate from them and constitute an attempted electronic fraud (phishing). Consumers are advised to be especially careful with messages containing links or attachments.
