Students' requests to Ministry of Education: Reduced syllabus, music during breaks, new technologies

At the start of the new school year, the Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, visited Latsia High School, where she discussed students' requests with them.
The students requested a reduction in the syllabus, so that the school focuses on developing skills rather than obtaining grades. They also suggested the integration of new technologies to reduce the number of books.
Ms. Michaelidou emphasized that the focus is on less syllabus content, cultivating creativity and critical thinking. In addition, the pilot implementation of lockers to reduce the weight of school bags is being considered.
Students expressed their satisfaction with the installation of air conditioners in the classrooms and asked for more communication with the Ministry of Education. A revision of school operating hours was also proposed.
One student suggested playing music during breaks, while the minister noted that the use of mobile phones is not prohibited in the educational process when necessary.
