Public School Changes: Ministry's Actions for the New School Year

The Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, announced a series of actions to upgrade public schools ahead of the new school year. The actions aim at a more effective and modern school at all levels of education.
According to the Minister, emphasis is placed on a student-centered approach with a gradual departure from the exam-oriented model. Among the actions are:
- Updating Curricula and reducing content.
- Promoting digital skills for students and teachers.
- Operating all-day Gymnasiums with an emphasis on new technologies and the Greek language.
- Implementing the strategy to address violence and delinquency in schools.
In addition, actions were announced to improve the Greek language, a pilot implementation of the Technical Gymnasium institution, a German language learning program in Gymnasium, and the reinstatement of the work week in the second year of Lyceum.
Other actions include the expansion of financial literacy in Gymnasium, the expansion of the eΔΕΑ system, and the improvement of procedures in the regional committees for special education.
The Minister concluded that "the public school is changing and changing to give every child the power to move forward."
