All-Day School Changes: Upgrade and Expansion

The Optional All-Day School (OADS) program in primary schools is being strengthened and expanded, according to the Government Program. The goal is to provide quality education and support families.
The upgrade includes improving the content of the courses, so that every hour in the All-Day School has educational value. The All-Day School is considered an educational institution that cultivates knowledge, skills and critical thinking, while reinforcing the prevention of illiteracy and delinquency.
Upgrade steps:
- Increase in the number of schools: From 142 primary and 78 kindergartens in 2023, to 182 primary and 128 kindergartens, with the aim of expanding to all primary schools by 2028.
- Abolition of service procurement: Appointment of teachers through the Educational Service Committee.
- Upgrading course content: Preparation of new Curricula for topics of interest, English, Computers, Life Education. The programs will be available from September 2025.
- Extended operation: From 2024-2025, the operation is extended by four weeks, with a full program of meals, study and lessons.
- Strengthening administration: Reducing the teaching time of principals.
The investment for the upgrade of the All-Day School exceeds 18 million euros.
