Fire Victims to Receive Payments Within 24 Hours, Assures Accountant General

The Republic's General Accounting Office is fully prepared to disburse financial aid to fire victims within 24 hours of application approval, assured Accountant General Andreas Antoniades.

The state mechanism is coordinating with ministries and local authorities to ensure timely support. Payments will be made electronically or manually to avoid delays.

A special account has been opened at the Central Bank, where €1.2 million has been collected from citizen contributions. Mr. Antoniades emphasized that the account was created following a request from civil society, and the funds will be used transparently.
