Fires in Lysos and Drouseia Contained After Swift Response

Forest fires in the communities of Lysos and Drouseia in the Paphos district were brought under control following a rapid response from the Department of Forests.
The fire in Lysos started at 15:58 near the Prophet Elias church and was controlled by 16:20, burning 0.5 hectares of wild vegetation. Seven personnel from the Department of Forests with two fire trucks participated.
In Drouseia, the fire broke out at 16:23 in the Manierides – Lassi location and was brought under control by 16:30. Five personnel from the Department of Forests with one fire truck, as well as four leased aircraft, participated.
The causes of the fires are under investigation.
