Famagusta Festivals Revived in Ayia Napa and Paralimni

Three major festivals of Famagusta, the Orange Festival, the Anthestiria, and the Kataklysmos, are being revived as part of the "Famagusta's Spring" initiative, in collaboration with the Municipality of the occupied city and the Municipalities of Ayia Napa and Paralimni-Deryneia.

At a press conference at the Famagusta Municipality Cultural Center in Deryneia, it was announced that the Orange Festival will be held in collaboration with the Municipality of Ayia Napa on May 2, 2026, the Famagusta Anthestiria in collaboration with the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia on May 10, 2026, and the Famagusta Kataklysmos in collaboration with the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia from May 29 to June 1, 2026.

The Mayor of Famagusta, Dr. Simos Ioannou, emphasized that the revival transfers the memory from the old to the new generation.

The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, stated that the revival of the Orange Festival is a bridge to occupied Famagusta. As part of the event, the Municipal Museum “Thalassa” will host the ceramics exhibition “Scents of Famagusta.”

The Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Giorgos Nikolettos, stressed that the revival of the historical events preserves the collective memory.

The three Mayors called on all Cypriots to embrace the initiative.
