Andreas Siikkis: Rational Tourism Development in Geroskipou

The Deputy Mayor of Geroskipou, Andreas Siikkis, emphasizes the need for a more rational tourism development in the area. Speaking to philenews, Mr. Siikkis stated that Geroskipou hosts tourists who mainly visit neighboring Paphos, without utilizing its own attractions.
The Deputy Mayor stressed the importance of creating a traditional neighborhood, a topic that has been discussed in the Municipality for 20 years. Such a neighborhood would offer a taste of traditional life, with cobblestone streets, small courtyards, and flowers. Mr. Siikkis suggests financial incentives for owners to utilize their properties, creating traditional cafes and hangouts.
The goal is for tourists not to be limited to visiting the client area and the church, or staying at the hotel and the beach, but to also explore the center of Geroskipou.
