Akamas: Reactions to private party in protected area

Strong reactions have been sparked by the organization of a private party in an environmentally sensitive area of Akamas. According to reports, a concert stage was set up for the birthday party, resulting in reactions from citizens and environmental organizations.

The Audit Office intervened, describing the connection between the private party and the annual Carob Festival as arbitrary and misleading. It is noted that the necessary permits had not been obtained for organizing the party.

In addition, the Audit Office expresses reasonable suspicions of possible negligence on the part of state officials to serve a specific private interest.

Meanwhile, incidents were also reported of citizens emptying barbecues with lit coals in forest areas in the mountainous Limassol region, causing fires.
