Famagusta Municipality Anti-Occupation Event Today

The Municipality of Famagusta is holding its annual anti-occupation event today, Saturday, August 2, 2025. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the outdoor area of the Famagusta Cultural Center in Deryneia.

Around 7 p.m., a procession will take place from the Cultural Center to the Deryneia crossing point, where a resolution will be submitted. The entire event will be policed by members of the Famagusta Police Department and the MMAD.

The Police will be on site to ensure the peaceful conduct of the event and the smooth flow of traffic. All participants are requested to comply with the instructions of the police officers.

Based on the Public Gatherings and Processions Law 151(I) of 2025, the organizer is obliged to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event, in cooperation with the Police.

The Police may impose restrictions or even dissolve the gathering if it is not peaceful or if there is a risk of bodily harm or damage to property.

In addition, the Police may request the removal of objects that make a person unrecognizable if there is suspicion that the gathering is about to become non-peaceful.
