Former Bishop of Kition Chrysostomos Dies

Former Bishop of Kition, Chrysostomos, passed away at the age of 87. The news was announced by the Holy Metropolis of Tamasos and Oreinis.

He had been hospitalized in a clinic in Larnaca and died from a respiratory infection. His funeral will be held on Thursday at the Church of Agios Georgios.

Chrysostomos, born in 1938, served as Bishop of Kition from 1973. He resigned in 2019, after a term marked by legal troubles.

He was found guilty of indecent assault and sentenced, leading to his suspension and expulsion from the Metropolis.
