Foot-and-Mouth Disease Cases Increase in Larnaca and Nicosia

The Veterinary Services have announced new cases of foot-and-mouth disease in two additional units in the districts of Larnaca and Nicosia. The total number of infected units now stands at 54.
The new cases were detected in two units in the Dromolaxia-Meneou area, within the already infected zone. One case involves 3 to 5 goats and sheep, and the other involves around 20 goats and sheep.
The spokesperson for the Veterinary Services, Sotiria Georgiadou, assured that there is no risk to the consumption of meat and milk in view of Easter.
Vaccinations have reached 60% for the second dose in cattle and 27% for goats and sheep.
