The relocation of the University of Cyprus's Architecture School to the Faneromeni building is uncertain, with the University strongly reacting to reports that the building may be given to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Nikos Christofides, Rector of the University of Cyprus, expressed his opposition, citing an unjustified increase in the project's cost from 11 to 25 million euros. "Based on the agreement signed in 2021, the building should have been renovated by the Holy Archdiocese at the state's expense. Since 2021, I cannot imagine how the cost of 6+5 million is now priced at 25 million," he stated to Omega.

The University of Cyprus is requesting the building for another faculty in case of disagreement, while the Rector stressed that the concession of Faneromeni to another university is unacceptable. At the same time, he expressed dissatisfaction with the change of plans regarding student dormitories in the center of Nicosia.

The Ministry of Finance has not made any statement.
