Strict Penalties for Violations on School Buses

Strict penalties for delinquent behavior on school buses were announced by the responsible Ministers and organized parents, following a meeting at the Ministry of Transport.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Transport Alexis Vafeadis, the Minister of Education Athina Michaelidou, the Pancyprian Confederation of Parents' Associations of Public Secondary Schools, and representatives of the Police.

The reason was the increasing incidents of violence and damage on student routes, which led to the interruption of the service.

Alexis Vafeadis stressed that the safety of students is of utmost importance and announced prevention and monitoring measures, such as increased presence of supervisors and increased controls. Parents will be asked to pay for the damages.

Athina Michaelidou stressed zero tolerance for incidents of violence and delinquency, emphasizing the education and information of students and parents.

Loizos Konstantinou, President of the Pancyprian Confederation, stated that safety comes first and tolerance is over.
