Protest Over Beachfront Cafe in Geroskipou

A group of citizens held a protest in the coastal area of Geroskipou, expressing support for the managers of the Riccos Beach cafe-restaurant. The protest followed the decision of the Geroskipou Municipal Council to announce tenders for the space.

Protesters responded to the call of the managers, who have been operating in the area for 50 years, arguing that the decision leads to the removal of the family from the business. The event was attended by citizens, members of the Association of War Veterans, as well as the Deputy Mayors of Geroskipou and Paphos.

The Association of War Veterans issued a statement declaring its support for those who sacrificed themselves for the homeland. The Municipality of Geroskipou stated that the tenders were submitted through the Electronic System for the Conclusion of Contracts of the General Accounting Office, adding that it does not have the discretion to lease the space directly without a tender.
