Protest over Northern Road Link in Western Nicosia

A group of 15 people staged a symbolic protest near the new Health Center in Akaki, upon the arrival of President Nikos Christodoulides. They are protesting the change of the initial northern route of the western Nicosia road.

Ilias Manouchos, a representative of the Akaki – Peristerona – Astromeritis residents' initiative, stated that the northern route was the policy of the Republic of Cyprus until 2017 and is asking for it to be reinstated. The protesters handed the President a letter with their positions and a map of the proposed route.

In their letter, the residents express their concern about the change of route and request the President's intervention to avoid a "huge mistake" and a potential scandal.
