Protest over Dhenia-Astromeritis Highway Construction

Dozens of residents from the communities of Akaki, Peristerona, and Astromeritis protested on Sunday against the construction of the Dhenia-Astromeritis highway on the southern side of their communities. The residents prefer the original northern route.

The protesters voiced their opposition with placards and slogans, arguing that the planned route ignores the objections of local authorities and alternative proposals. They claim the process is proceeding without meaningful dialogue.

Local authorities are requesting a review of the route, citing serious impacts on quality of life, the environment, and the residential fabric of the areas.
