Protest in Limassol Over Deadly Wildfires

A crowd gathered in Limassol for a peaceful protest concerning the handling of the deadly wildfires in the region.
The event was organized by Sofia Perikleous, a 22-year-old student, through social media, demanding accountability for the deaths and destruction.
Protesters expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of measures and coordinated response, calling for environmental protection. Sofia Perikleous stated that in 15 years, three governments have proven "criminally unworthy" of protecting the area.
According to her, approximately 315 square kilometers, representing 3.5% of the total area of Cyprus, have been burned in the last 15 years.
The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims, followed by a speech, a musical program, and a march from Molos to the Old Port of Limassol.
