DIKO Calls for Immediate Payments to Fire Victims in Limassol

DIKO President, Nikolas Papadopoulos, has called for the immediate payment of compensation to fire victims in the mountainous Limassol region, stressing the need for swift procedures without delays and bureaucracy.

In statements following a meeting in Agios Amvrosios, Mr. Papadopoulos assured that his party will exert pressure for the immediate disbursement of compensation, emphasizing that delayed assistance is not substantial assistance.

Asked about citizens concerned about non-licensed properties, he stated that a process has been decided for assessing damages and providing compensation even without the formal permit. In addition, compensation will be given to affected businesses for equipment and raw materials, while rent subsidies are also important.

Mr. Papadopoulos stressed that measures are being taken to provide housing for those who have been displaced from their homes due to the disaster.
