The Mayor of Polis Chrysochous, Giotis Papachristofi, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the procedures for the construction of the new hospital in the area. The project is considered particularly important and necessary for the wider region.

In statements to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Mr. Papachristofi stated that the project is proceeding according to schedule and thanked President Nikos Christodoulides for his support. The goal is to lay the foundation stone in January 2027 and complete the project by the end of 2028.

The creation of the new hospital will meet the modern healthcare needs of the residents of Polis Chrysochous and the surrounding communities. The existing hospital has been operating since the British colonial period and no longer meets today's requirements.

The Council of Ministers decided to expropriate the land for the hospital, with the Minister of Health Neophytos Charalambides stating that the area of the new hospital will amount to 21,000 sq.m.
