The Municipality of Limassol presented the new WeeDRIVE service on Friday, an organized transport solution for teenagers aged 12-18 in Cyprus.

The service aims to make daily commutes to afternoon and Saturday activities safer, easier and more sustainable. The Mayor of Limassol, Yiannis Armeftis, and members of the Municipal Council arrived at the event in a WeeDRIVE bus.

Mr. Armeftis emphasized that the service is an important step for Limassol to become a climate-neutral, smart and human city. Professor Maria Kamariani presented the application, emphasizing its safety and reliability. Giorgos Kyriakou, CEO of EMEL, described the service as innovative.

Currently, 5 mini-buses serve approximately 100 children in Limassol, and with the arrival of 4 additional vehicles, the capacity will increase to 200–250 children. The service offers door-to-door pickup and delivery, real-time GPS updates and instant notifications to parents.

The application was developed as part of the European project metaCCAZE, in collaboration with the Municipality of Limassol, EMEL, MaaSLab, Oxygen for Democracy (Oxygono) and NextBike. More information is available at weedrive.app.
