Sikinos Municipality: €3,000 Allowance for Every Newborn from 2026

The Municipality of Sikinos will grant an allowance of €3,000 for every newborn from January 1, 2026. The decision was made following a proposal by the mayor, Vasilis Marakis, aiming to address the low birth rate.

The allowance will be granted to all families of permanent residents and citizens of the Municipality of Sikinos. According to the Municipality, this initiative recognizes the value of family and life in a small place.

The Municipality of Sikinos states that the demographic problem and the low birth rate are significant challenges for Greece and other European countries, especially in mountainous and island regions.
