Dromolaxia: Measures to Protect Livestock After 73-Year-Old's Death

The Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou is taking measures to enhance biosecurity in livestock farming, following the death of a 73-year-old farmer from a heart attack. According to Municipal Secretary Kyriakos Sotiriou, in consultation with the Department of Agriculture, the length of footbath tanks will be increased to 9 meters, and warning signs will be installed.

Mr. Sotiriou stated that the Municipality is in constant communication with the Department of Agriculture and is awaiting the start of animal vaccinations. Additionally, an announcement has been made to provide psychological support to livestock farmers from the Mental Health Services of OKYpY.

Furthermore, the locations of the footbaths have been determined in the livestock areas of Dromolaxia A', Dromolaxia B', Softades, and Tersefanou. In response to a question regarding the safety of spraying, Mr. Sotiriou assured that the medicines used meet EU safety standards.

Regarding the death of the 73-year-old, Mr. Sotiriou explained that the death was due to a cardiac arrest.
