Seabed Cleaning Campaign at Paphos Harbour Organized by CPA

The Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) organized a seabed cleaning campaign at Paphos Harbour on Sunday, with the participation of professional divers, the Municipality of Paphos, the Department of Environment, the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, the Paphos Fishermen's Association, the A.K.T.I Centre for Studies, the American University, the Atlas Academy, volunteers, students, and citizens.
The campaign, which lasted two hours, aimed to collect and record waste, as well as raise public awareness regarding environmental management. Katerina Dokou, Environmental Officer of the CPA, emphasized the Authority's commitment to maintaining clean and sustainable ports.
Angelos Onisiforou, Deputy Mayor of Paphos, highlighted the importance of everyone's contribution to protecting the marine environment. Fotos Sokratous, on behalf of the divers, stated that the goal is to send the message that they care about the environment, especially for divers for whom the sea is their workplace.
Anna Tselepou from the A.K.T.I Centre for Studies and Research, mentioned that the campaign aims to remove waste, protect the marine ecosystem, and record the findings for scientific evaluation. Simoni Tourkomeni, on behalf of AUB, stated that professors and students from the American University of Beirut participated.
Leonidas Leonidou, president of the Paphos Coastal Fisheries Association, welcomed the campaign, emphasizing its importance for professional fishermen.
