Cyprus Weather Alert: Rain, Storms, and Snow Forecast

A low-pressure system centered over the Black Sea is affecting Cyprus, bringing rain, storms, and snow to the higher mountainous areas. According to the Department of Meteorology, the atmosphere will be dusty until noon.
Today, the weather will be mainly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, as well as snow in the higher mountains. In the afternoon, the phenomena will be limited and weakened. The winds will blow mainly southwest to west, strong to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort and locally on the windward side up to severe, 6 to 7 Beaufort with gusts that may reach 9 to 10 Beaufort. The sea will be very rough and locally on the windward side up to stormy. The temperature will rise to around 18 degrees Celsius inland and on the coast and to 6 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly in the western half of the island. Snow or sleet may fall in the higher mountains. The winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and locally on the coast up to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be very rough, but in the south and east it will gradually become rough. The temperature will drop to 9 degrees Celsius inland, around 13 on the west and north coasts, around 11 on the other coasts and to 4 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains, where local frost may form.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, locally increased cloud cover will be observed at times. The temperature until Saturday will gradually rise.
