Audit Report on Bus Stops: Design Flaws and Responsibilities
Share on:

The Audit Office issued a special report regarding the design and installation of new bus stops, a project costing €62 million co-financed by European and national funds. The report examines potential design flaws in three areas.

According to the report, the bus stops have not been installed backwards. However, the 'Small Shelter' type gives this impression due to the absence of a right pillar.

Regarding the size of the bench, the report states that it could be larger, but there is provision for future expansion.

A significant issue identified is the almost zero visibility of passengers towards passing vehicles, which the Audit Office describes as unprecedented and unacceptable.

Combination of three serious flaws:

  • The main pillar is placed on the side of oncoming vehicles (left side).
  • The main pillar is not transparent.
  • The bench is adjacent to the main pillar.

The report concludes with responsibilities for the TDE as the Contracting Authority, stating that the final design provides minimal visibility, while the initial design did not have these flaws, which arose following suggestions from the TDE.
